LaMelo Ball Leads Hornets to Stunning Win Over Lakers

LaMelo Ball delivered a standout performance with 27 points as the Charlotte Hornets stunned the Los Angeles Lakers with a 100-97 victory. The game, which had been rescheduled due to wildfires in Los Angeles, marked the first matchup since the All-Star break.

 

However, the time off did little to help the Lakers, as LeBron James and Luka Doncic continued to struggle with their on-court chemistry in their third game together since Doncic's move from the Dallas Mavericks.

 

Miles Bridges led the Hornets in scoring with 29 points, but it was Ball who made the crucial plays in the final moments. With just 15 seconds left, he sank a lay-up and two free throws to secure the win.

 

 James tried to rally the Lakers, scoring 16 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter, but he missed two three-point attempts that could have forced overtime. Meanwhile, Doncic contributed 14 points and 11 assists but was unable to help his team overcome Charlotte’s late surge.

 

For the struggling Hornets, the win was only their second in the last 11 games, keeping them in 14th place in the Eastern Conference standings. The Lakers, on the other hand, find themselves in a slump, now on a two-game losing streak and sitting in fifth place in the Western Conference as they continue to adjust to their new lineup.
