Lakers’ Win Streak Ends as Doncic Struggles with Turnovers Against Suns

Posted : 02 December 2025

The Los Angeles Lakers saw their seven-game winning streak come to an end Monday with a 125-108 defeat to the Phoenix Suns.

Despite scoring 20 points in the first quarter—marking the third time in four games he reached that mark early—the Lakers were tied with Phoenix at 31-31. However, the game quickly slipped away.

In the second quarter, Doncic committed four turnovers, while teammate Austin Reaves added four of his own. The Suns capitalized on the Lakers’ mistakes, outscoring Los Angeles 35-21 to pull ahead decisively.

Doncic’s nine turnovers tied a career high and resulted in steals for the Suns on every occasion—setting the record for most live-ball turnovers by a single player in a game this season, according to ESPN Research.

Lakers coach JJ Redick noted that Phoenix’s defensive setup, particularly the presence of center Mark Williams, made it difficult for Doncic to operate.

Despite the turnover issues, Doncic finished with 38 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists. Reaves contributed 16 points, while LeBron James added 10 points, 3 assists, and 3 turnovers, extending his NBA record streak of consecutive games scoring in double digits to 1,297 with a three-pointer late in the fourth quarter.

James cited turnovers and transition points as key factors in the loss. Phoenix’s Dillon Brooks and Collin Gillespie led the way with 33 and 28 points respectively, outscoring the Lakers 28-2 in fast-break points.

The Lakers currently hold a 15-5 record, but face a tough stretch ahead. Their next four games come against teams with winning records, including a grueling East Coast trip with matches in Toronto, Boston, and Philadelphia.
