A rare 2003-04 Kobe Bryant Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Emblems of Endorsements card recently sold for $1.22 million, including the buyer’s premium, at Goldin Auctions. This sale marks the third-highest public transaction ever for a solo Bryant card.
The card is autographed in blue ink, numbered 8/15, and graded near-mint 8 by Beckett Grading Services. It features two multicolored game-used patches, cut from a jersey Bryant wore while wearing his iconic No. 8.
At the same auction, four other cards also exceeded $500,000. These included a 2005 Topps Finest SuperFractor die-cut Tom Brady card that sold for $704,550, a 1997-98 Skybox Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems Red Michael Jordan card that went for $651,334, and a 1998 Pokémon Japanese Promo Holo Illustrator Pikachu card, which fetched $610,000.
Despite this impressive sale, the all-time record for a sports card remains held by another Bryant card. Last August, a one-of-one on-card autographed Bryant/Jordan Dual Logoman card sold for $12.932 million to a group of buyers including Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary, mega-collector Matt Allen (known as Shyne150), and entrepreneur Paul Warshaw.
