Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Says Team Chemistry Will Be Key to 76ers’ Championship Hopes

Posted : 13 October 2026

Veteran guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope believes team chemistry will be a decisive factor in determining whether the Philadelphia 76ers can challenge for the NBA championship this season. With considerable talent across the roster, the 33-year-old says building strong relationships, communicating effectively and developing an understanding of teammates’ playing styles will be essential to the team’s success.

Caldwell-Pope shared his thoughts on Monday, stressing that players must connect both on and off the court. He explained that enjoying one another’s company and creating a positive team environment could help Philadelphia turn its individual talent into collective success.

The guard joined the Sixers after agreeing to a buyout with the Memphis Grizzlies in July. He subsequently signed a one-year contract worth $3.9 million, bringing championship experience and defensive versatility to Philadelphia’s roster.

Caldwell-Pope brings valuable experience to Philadelphia, having won NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020 alongside LeBron James and with the Denver Nuggets in 2023. His ability to defend opposing guards and contribute from beyond the three-point line makes him a potentially important piece of the Sixers’ championship push.

The veteran is entering his 14th NBA season after a difficult final campaign in Memphis. He underwent surgery in February to correct a misalignment in his right little finger, forcing him to miss the Grizzlies’ final 31 games. Before the injury, he averaged 8.4 points, 2.7 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 51 appearances, while shooting 31.6% from three-point range.

Despite those struggles, Caldwell-Pope remains focused on helping Philadelphia maximise its talent. Team dinners and other bonding activities have already begun, with the guard stressing that communication and familiarity will be essential as the players work towards their shared championship ambitions.
