Karl-Anthony Towns Posts Triple-Double as Knicks Level Series With Hawks

Karl-Anthony Towns delivered a historic all-around performance to lead the New York Knicks to a crucial 114-98 victory over the Atlanta Hawks, tying their first-round playoff series at 2-2. The win restored home-court advantage and helped the Knicks respond strongly after consecutive narrow defeats.

Towns finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, recording his first career playoff triple-double in his 54th postseason appearance. The performance marked a rare playmaking showcase from the Knicks big man, who stepped into a central creative role on offense when his team needed a new approach.

Wearing No. 32 in tribute to legendary playmaker Magic Johnson, Towns reflected on the significance of the milestone, emphasizing his desire to impact winning through team involvement and offensive facilitation rather than scoring alone.

His passing was especially effective in finding teammates in rhythm, with forward OG Anunoby benefiting most from his vision. Anunoby finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds, repeatedly scoring off well-timed assists from Towns as New York’s offense clicked more fluidly than in previous games.

The Knicks adjusted their approach after struggling in earlier games, leaning more heavily on Towns as an offensive hub. Even head coach Mike Brown acknowledged the shift in flow, noting that tactical changes early in possessions naturally led to Towns having the ball in key playmaking situations.

Defensively, New York also produced one of its strongest performances of the series, limiting Atlanta’s shooting from beyond the arc and preventing the Hawks from building any offensive rhythm. The effort was led by Josh Hart, who helped disrupt Atlanta’s key scorers throughout the game.

Although star guard Jalen Brunson had a quieter scoring night with 19 points, he contributed defensively and helped maintain control as the Knicks built a double-digit lead that stretched to 19 points in the third quarter.

With the series now evenly poised, the Knicks head into Game 5 with renewed confidence after producing their most complete performance of the matchup so far, powered by Towns’ rare and timely triple-double display.
