JJ Redick Meets with Lebron, Outlines Defensive Expectations in Meeting with Lakers Stars

The Los Angeles Lakers have started the season 18-7, sitting third in the Western Conference, but defensive struggles continue to concern the team. Despite their winning record, opponents have exploited transition opportunities and perimeter shots, leaving the Lakers ranked 20th in defensive rating and 28th in opponent three-point percentage.

JJ Redick recently held a candid discussion with the team’s leaders, including LeBron James and Luka Doncic, stressing that the defensive intensity must start from the top. Luka Doncic acknowledged the conversation, describing it as a necessary reminder for the team to elevate their effort, especially early in games.

Following the meeting, the Lakers faced the Phoenix Suns and built a 20-point lead but allowed a comeback, ultimately winning 116-114. While the game highlighted both the team’s potential and persistent vulnerabilities, Luka noted that the Lakers showed progress and reinforced the importance of starting games with a strong defensive focus.
