Jaylen Brown Opens Up on Celtics Trade as He Begins New Chapter with 76ers

Jaylen Brown admitted he was not entirely shocked by his trade from the Boston Celtics to the Philadelphia 76ers, having repeatedly heard his name linked with potential moves during his decade in Boston.

However, the five-time All-Star acknowledged that the way the Celtics handled the situation left him disappointed, particularly regarding communication during the trade process.

Speaking at his introductory press conference in Philadelphia, Brown revealed that his immediate reaction to learning about the trade was emotional.

He said he threw his phone across the room before receiving messages from new teammates, including Tyrese Maxey, who quickly welcomed him to the 76ers. Brown has since remained in regular contact with his new teammates as he prepares to settle into his new surroundings.

Rather than dwelling on his departure from Boston, Brown stressed that his priority is building a successful future with Philadelphia.

He highlighted the importance of trust, communication and sacrifice within a talented roster that includes Maxey, Joel Embiid and LeBron James, while expressing particular excitement about learning from James and drawing on the veteran's extensive experience.

Brown also addressed his relationship with former Celtics teammate Jayson Tatum, saying they have had little communication since the trade but insisting there is still nothing but respect between them.

The pair won an NBA championship together, and Brown said that shared achievement remains an important part of their relationship despite the circumstances surrounding his departure from Boston.
