Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd has signed a multiyear extension, securing his leadership for the team.
The Dallas Mavericks have confirmed that head coach Jason Kidd has signed a multiyear contract extension, ensuring he remains at the helm for the foreseeable future. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Team governor Patrick Dumont praised Kidd's leadership, stating, "Our entire organization deeply appreciates Coach Kidd's leadership, focus, and positive energy. He embodies everything our organization seeks in a leader, and we are confident he will continue guiding our team thoughtfully as we pursue championships in Dallas."
The extension follows reported interest from the New York Knicks, who ultimately hired Mike Brown after the Mavericks denied permission for Kidd to interview. Kidd has compiled a 179-149 record over four seasons in Dallas, leading the team to the 2022 Western Conference Finals and the 2024 NBA Finals.
The coach’s previous extension occurred during Dallas' 2024 playoff run, when the Los Angeles Lakers had also expressed interest in interviewing him.
