Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs was ejected with just 27 seconds left in the first half of Tuesday night’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers after receiving two technical fouls during a heated on-court altercation. The incident began when Philadelphia’s Andre Drummond tugged on Orlando’s Wendell Carter Jr.’s jersey, sparking a shoving match near the Magic’s free-throw line.
Suggs intervened by shoving Drummond, and when Philadelphia’s Jabari Walker stepped in, Suggs confronted him as well, escalating the scuffle. In total, Suggs received two technicals, while Drummond, Carter, Walker, and Orlando’s Desmond Bane each received one.
After the game, Suggs explained that he stepped in because he took issue with Drummond squaring up with Carter. “I don’t regret it and would do it again 10 times out of 10,” he said. “I’ll stick up for my brother every time. I’ll take the fine. I don’t think I should’ve been ejected, but I’ll accept it and move on. I have no hard feelings toward anybody.”
Despite the disruption, the Magic dominated the second quarter, outscoring Philadelphia by 26 points to take an 86–60 lead at halftime. Orlando maintained control throughout the second half and cruised to a convincing 144–103 victory over the 76ers.
