Tyrese Haliburton praised a collective performance after the Indiana Pacers defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 116-107 in Game 3 of the NBA Finals, taking a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. Haliburton nearly recorded a triple-double with 22 points, 11 assists, and nine rebounds, helping to overturn a five-point deficit in the final quarter. The win, achieved at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, came as a bounce back from their Game 2 loss and continued their streak of avoiding consecutive defeats since March.
The Pacers' bench played a crucial role, outscoring their Thunder counterparts 49-18. Bennedict Mathurin delivered an explosive performance with 27 points off the bench, injecting energy into Indiana’s offense during key moments of the game.
Haliburton praised his teammate's contributions, stating, "Ben Mathurin was amazing off the bench," and emphasizing the importance of multiple players stepping up. Mathurin, in turn, highlighted the need for resilience and aggression to secure victories at this level.
Despite a solid start, Oklahoma City struggled in the fourth quarter, where they were significantly outplayed. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the league's MVP, was limited to just three points in the final period, finishing the game with 24.
Jalen Williams led the Thunder with 26 points, and Chet Holmgren added a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. However, their 19 turnovers proved costly, directly resulting in 21 points for the Pacers and undercutting their offensive rhythm.
Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault acknowledged the shift in momentum late in the game, noting that Indiana outperformed them on both ends of the floor in the fourth quarter. Game 4 of the Finals is set to be played at the same venue on Friday, where the Thunder will aim to level the series, while the Pacers look to strengthen their grip on the championship.
