Golden State Warriors Sign Brandon Williams to One-Year, $2.6 Million Deal

The Golden State Warriors have agreed to a one-year, $2.6 million contract with free-agent guard Brandon Williams, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The move represents Golden State’s first external addition of the offseason as the team looks to strengthen its backcourt depth.

Williams arrives after a productive campaign with the Dallas Mavericks, where he averaged 13.0 points and 3.9 assists in 22.2 minutes across 66 games. The 26-year-old guard has played four NBA seasons and began his professional career with the Portland Trail Blazers.

His arrival gives the Warriors another quick, scoring-oriented option for their second unit. Golden State is expected to rely on additional backcourt depth as the team navigates the early part of the season without key wings Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody, who are recovering from knee injuries.

The signing takes Golden State's roster to 14 players. General manager Mike Dunleavy has indicated that the Warriors plan to use their final roster spot this summer, after leaving it open in previous seasons to manage costs.
