Golden State Warriors Complete Roster With Georges Niang Signing

Posted : 26 August 2026

The Golden State Warriors have added veteran forward Georges Niang on a one-year, $3.9 million contract, filling the final spot on their 15-man roster for the 2026-27 NBA season.

Niang's arrival came shortly after Golden State agreed to a one-year deal with guard Brandon Williams. The two additions represent the Warriors' first external free-agent signings of the offseason as the franchise largely maintains its existing core. Williams' contract is worth $2.6 million.

The 33-year-old Niang missed the entire 2025-26 campaign after suffering a fracture to his left foot in September. Before the injury, however, he had built a reputation as a dependable reserve and high-volume perimeter shooter. He owns a career three-point percentage of 39.9% and had appeared in at least 72 games in each of the five seasons before his injury.

Niang is expected to provide shooting and frontcourt depth behind Draymond Green, Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford and rookie Yaxel Lendeborg. His familiarity with the organization could also help his transition, having previously spent time with the Santa Cruz Warriors after attending Golden State's training camp in 2017.

The signing gives Golden State another experienced scorer who can stretch opposing defenses from the perimeter. Niang last played during the 2024-25 season, when he appeared in 79 games for Cleveland and Atlanta and averaged 9.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

Meanwhile, the Warriors' attention will soon turn toward Stephen Curry. The franchise's superstar becomes eligible for a contract extension later this week, with both sides reportedly sharing a desire for Curry to remain with Golden State for the rest of his career.

With Niang and Williams now on board, Golden State has completed its roster and will enter the new season relying on veteran experience, shooting and continuity as it looks to compete in the Western Conference.
