Gary Trent Jr. Secures Four-Year, $64 Million Deal to Stay with Milwaukee Bucks

Gary Trent Jr. has agreed to a four-year, $64 million contract to remain with the Milwaukee Bucks, ending speculation over his future after entering free agency this offseason. The agreement was confirmed by Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul and agent Lucas Newton to ESPN's Shams Charania.

The new deal represents a remarkable rise for the 27-year-old guard, who initially joined Milwaukee on a league-minimum contract in 2024 before signing a team-friendly two-year, $7.5 million extension ahead of last season. Trent declined the player option in that contract to test free agency, a move that ultimately resulted in a significant long-term payday.

Trent attracted interest from multiple NBA teams during free agency, with several sign-and-trade scenarios reportedly explored before he decided to continue his career in Milwaukee. The Bucks were in a strong position to retain him after holding his Bird rights, allowing the franchise to offer a more lucrative contract than rival teams. His salary will begin at approximately $15.2 million in the first year of the agreement.

During his two seasons with Milwaukee, Trent established himself as a reliable perimeter scorer and three-point threat. Across 139 games with the Bucks, he averaged 9.7 points per game while shooting 41 percent from the field and nearly 39 percent from beyond the arc. His playoff performances, particularly his outside shooting, further strengthened his value to the franchise.

The Bucks continue to reshape their roster ahead of the new NBA season, and Trent's return adds further depth to an already crowded backcourt. Milwaukee has also added Tyler Herro and Caris LeVert, while Ryan Rollins, Kevin Porter Jr. and first-round draft pick Brayden Burries remain part of the team's guard rotation.

By committing to Trent on a long-term contract, Milwaukee has secured one of its key perimeter players while reinforcing its backcourt for the seasons ahead. The move underscores the franchise's confidence in Trent's ability to contribute as it looks to remain competitive in the Eastern Conference.
