Eagles surged, Jokic triumphed, Wembie endured debut test

A packed NBA schedule on Wednesday and Thursday featured several notable performances and outcomes.

Nikola Jokic continued his MVP-level play with a dominant 35-point, 13-rebound, 5-assist performance in the Nuggets' narrow win over the Warriors. This was the Serbian center's 11th double-double of the season, and he has now scored at least 30 points in four of his last five games.

The Philadelphia 76ers extended their winning streak to six games with a victory over the Boston Celtics. Joel Embiid led the way with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocks, while Tyrese Maxey added 25 points and 5 assists. The Celtics, who have lost two straight, were led by Kristaps Porzingis' 29 points and Derek White's 19 points.

The Houston Rockets handed the Los Angeles Lakers their first road loss of the season with a convincing 94-128 victory. Jalen Green led the Rockets with 28 points, Alperen Sengun had 19 points, and Fred VanVleet added 9 points and 10 assists. The Lakers were led by Rui Hachimura's 24 points and D'Angelo Russell's 22 points, but LeBron James struggled with just 18 points.

Victor Wembanyama had a tough debut at Madison Square Garden, finishing with just 14 points on 4-of-14 shooting from the field. The New York Knicks ultimately defeated the San Antonio Spurs 105-126.

The Chicago Bulls narrowly escaped the Phoenix Suns 116-115 in overtime. Grayson Allen led the Bucks with 26 points, Kevin Durant had 25 points and 9 assists, and Yusuf Nurkic added 20 points, 17 rebounds, and 8 assists. Zach LaVine led the Bulls with 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists.

The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 93-100. Lonnie Walker led the Nets with 21 points, but Cam Thomas was injured in the first half. Paul George had 24 points and Kawhi Leonard had 17 points for the Clippers.

Damian Lillard scored 34 points to help the Milwaukee Bucks defeat the Detroit Pistons 118-120.

Serge Ibaka had 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 127-116 victory over the Toronto Raptors.

Shaye Gilgeous-Alexander scored 43 points to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 120-128 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Anthony Edwards scored 26 points to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 101-122 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Bam Adebayo had 30 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 108-102 victory over the Miami Heat.

Aaron Naismith had 24 points and Tyrese Haliburton had 13 assists to lead the Indiana Pacers to a 118-134 victory over the Utah Jazz.
