Posted : 04 August 2025

Lagos basketball fans were treated to an electrifying spectacle on Saturday as top teams lit up the court at the 2025 Red Bull Half Court National Final.

The highly anticipated final, held at the sold-out Jewel Aeida in Lekki Phase 1, lived up to expectations with thrilling displays of skill, strategy, and determination.
Eight teams competed for glory in what was tagged “A Game for the Ages,” having qualified from regional championships in Ibadan.

The teams included Nile Spartans, The Dream Team, The Boys, Magic Ballers, Beavers Elite, The Kingsmen, STTD, and The Raging Fire.
Red Bull’s signature energy was evident in the fierce dunks, athletic plays, and high-paced 3x3 format that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

In the opening match, former champions Nile Spartans faced The Boys from Lagos Mainland. The Boys started strong with a 3–0 lead, but the Spartans responded with a fierce rally, eventually dominating the game 21–9 after a nerve-wracking comeback.

The second match saw The Kingsmen overpower Raging Fire 17–5, while Game 3 was the most contested, as Dream Team from Port Harcourt overcame Magic Ballers from Abuja 22–16. Star player Precious Faraday sealed the win with his lightning-quick reflexes and razor-sharp shooting.

Beavers Elite then outclassed STTD 21–13 using superior height and strength.

In the next round, Dream Team continued their dominance, with Precious once again leading the charge in an emphatic 18–4 victory over The Boys. The crowd roared with chants as he dazzled with flawless plays.

In the first semi-final, Magic Ballers narrowly edged out Kingsmen 14–12 in a tense showdown.

The final between Dream Team and Magic Ballers delivered the most intense moments of the tournament. Magic Ballers tried to neutralize Precious, but Favour stepped up to steer Dream Team forward.

With just seconds left, Precious sank a dramatic two-point game-winner, sealing a 14–12 victory for the Port Harcourt team.

The game showcased incredible heart, sportsmanship, and resilience from both sides. Precious was named the tournament MVP, sponsored by Red Bull.

As Dream Team celebrated their triumph, it was clear this was more than a win—it was a testament to the power of teamwork, passion, and the spirit of basketball.
Fans are already counting down to the 2026 edition of what is now one of Nigeria's most exciting basketball events.
