Draymond Green Calls Out Lack of Commitment as Warriors Struggle Continue on the Road

Posted : 12 November 2025

Following another disappointing performance on the road, Draymond Green didn’t hold back in his assessment of the Golden State Warriors’ struggles. The veteran forward voiced frustration after the team’s 126–102 blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, their sixth consecutive defeat away from home.

Reflecting on the difference between this season and last year — when Golden State surged after trading for Jimmy Butler, finishing the regular season 23–8 — Green pointed to a lack of shared purpose. “I think everybody was committed to winning [back then] and doing that any way possible,” he said. “Right now, it doesn’t feel that way.”

The Warriors began the current campaign brightly, opening with a road win over the Los Angeles Lakers and racing to a 5–1 record. However, a tough stretch of road-heavy fixtures has exposed weaknesses in both consistency and chemistry. Recent heavy defeats, including a 25-point loss to Denver and Tuesday’s blowout in Oklahoma City, have left the team reeling.

Green emphasized that personal motives may be interfering with the Warriors’ team dynamic. “I think everyone has a personal agenda in this league,” he said. “But you have to make those personal agendas work within the team confines. If it doesn’t work, you either get rid of your agenda — or eventually, that agenda is the reason someone gets rid of you.”

When approached later for clarification, Green said accountability must be shared by everyone. “Everyone has to take responsibility,” he told ESPN. “That’s what this road trip is for — everybody needs to be honest with themselves and with each other.”

The issue of “agendas” has reportedly caused tension within the locker room, especially among the team’s younger players. Brandin Podziemski, the third-year guard, has been vocal about his ambition, even stating before the season that he hopes to “be better than Steph Curry.” His comments raised eyebrows within the organization despite his consistent numbers this year (12.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists).

Meanwhile, Jonathan Kuminga’s contract dispute during the offseason underscored his desire for a larger role. He has logged the most minutes on the team this season, but like the rest of the squad, his performance has dipped since the strong start.

Head coach Steve Kerr, who once praised Kuminga as an “entrenched starter” for his defensive intensity and improved playmaking, now faces the challenge of restoring cohesion and urgency to a team that appears to have lost both.

With a veteran core led by Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Green, the Warriors have little time to waste if they hope to turn around their season. As Green made clear, success will depend on rediscovering the unity and sacrifice that once made them champions.
