Dolphins, First Bank Begin 2026 Zenith Bank/NBBF League Campaign on Winning Note

Dolphins Basketball Club and former champions First Bank got their 2026 Zenith Bank/NBBF Women’s Basketball League campaigns off to winning starts on Sunday at the National Stadium, Lagos.

Defending champions Dolphins overcame a determined First Deep Water side 59-46 in an entertaining Atlantic Conference encounter that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.

Dolphins President, Olumide Oyedeji, expressed satisfaction with the result, saying the team would improve as the competition progresses.

First Bank also secured a narrow 58-56 victory over Royal Aces in another keenly contested encounter, with the bankers holding their nerve to claim the two-point win after a closely fought battle.

Earlier in the day, Victoria Queens recorded the biggest victory of the opening fixtures, defeating IGP Queens 69-39.

Dolphins will return to action on Monday against Bayelsa Blue Whales, while MFM will take on Victoria Queens.

First Bank will battle IGP Queens, with Royal Aces and First Deep Water also set to face off in another Atlantic Conference fixture.
