Dar City secured the final postseason ticket available for the Kalahari Conference teams on Saturday. Despite suffering a 104-92 defeat against the dominant RSSB Tigers, the Tanzanian club’s previous performances proved sufficient for qualification. They finished the conference phase with a 2-3 record, which was enough to hold off their regional rivals.
The qualification came down to a head-to-head tie-break advantage over the Nairobi City Thunder. Dar City had previously defeated the Kenyan champions 90-85 in a tightly contested match. This result ensured that the Thunder could not overtake them in the final standings, regardless of the outcome of the Thunder's final game against the Tigers.
The RSSB Tigers continued their historic run during the same session. Guard Craig Randall set two new Basketball Africa League records during the victory over Dar City. Meanwhile, Damion Baugh etched his name into the history books by recording the first triple-double in the history of the BAL.
Al Ahly Ly had already secured the third of the four available playoff spots earlier in the week. The Kalahari Conference has been defined by high-scoring affairs and individual brilliance. Majok Deng has particularly impressed scouts with his long-range shooting accuracy throughout the tournament.
The Nairobi City Thunder entered the final day of the conference with a 1-3 record. Even a potential victory against the undefeated Tigers on Sunday would only bring them to a 2-3 standing. Due to the loss against Dar City, the Kenyan side is officially eliminated from playoff contention.
Dar City now joins Al Ahly Ly and the RSSB Tigers in the next phase of the 2026 BAL season. The Tanzanian champions will look to tighten their defense after conceding over 100 points in their final conference game. Their progression marks a significant milestone for basketball development in Tanzania.
