Nigeria’s D’Tigress have suffered another setback in their preparations for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup after falling to a 90-55 defeat against Belgium in their second warm-up game in Spain.
The African champions made a promising start and remained competitive through the opening two quarters, but their Belgian opponents stepped up their intensity after the interval.
Belgium took firm control of the game in the third and fourth quarters, widening the gap to secure a convincing victory over the Nigerian side.
The loss means D’Tigress are yet to record a victory in their Spanish warm-up campaign, having earlier suffered defeat against the hosts, Spain.
With their final preparations gathering momentum, Nigeria will face Mali in their next warm-up encounter before concluding the series against Puerto Rico.
The remaining fixtures will provide D’Tigress with valuable opportunities to address their shortcomings and build the cohesion required for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, scheduled to take place in Germany next month.
