Basketball World Cup Qualifiers: D’Tigers Earn First Win Over Rwanda

Nigeria's male national basketball team, D’Tigers, earned their first win in Group C of the African Qualifiers for the Basketball World Cup by defeating Rwanda’s Wasps in overtime after suffering defeats in their first two matches.

The match was hard-fought, with Nigeria trailing 12–21 in the first quarter and 6–13 in the second quarter, leaving halftime at 27–25 in favor of Rwanda. Nigeria surged back in the third quarter, winning 20–9, but Rwanda responded in the fourth quarter, leaving the score tied at 61–61 with 3:34 left, forcing overtime.

In the extra period, D’Tigers prevailed 14–8 to seal a 75–69 victory, marking a crucial first win and boosting the team’s confidence in the ongoing qualifiers.
