With the Kalahari Conference reaching its penultimate round, four clubs will take the court on Friday, 3 April, aiming to strengthen their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 Basketball Africa League Playoffs.
The Johannesburg Giants sit at the bottom of the standings without a win, while the RSSB Tigers continue to lead the table after beginning the group with an undefeated 3–0 record.
The day’s schedule begins with Al Ahly Ly facing Nairobi City Thunder. Both teams have one win and two losses so far this season, and Friday’s result could greatly influence their paths.
A victory would move either team to a 2–2 record, keeping alive the possibility of finishing 3–2 if they secure wins in their final match. If either side falls on Friday, the best they can finish is a 2–3 record, depending on how their last fixtures go.
Later in the evening, Petro de Luanda will take on Dar City BC in what is expected to be the most pivotal contest of the day.
Both teams have recorded two wins out of three so far, and the winner will improve to 3–1 — potentially sealing a playoff spot, especially given that one of the teams losing earlier may drop deeper into the standings. The loser of this matchup will drop to 2–2 and will have to wait to see how other results unfold to know their fate.
Meanwhile, the RSSB Tigers have already secured their berth in the playoffs thanks to their perfect start. Even in their worst possible outcome, they would finish with a 3–2 record, ensuring their progression from the Kalahari Conference.
These Friday clashes will be crucial in determining which teams advance in Africa’s premier club competition as the 2026 BAL season presses toward the knockout stages.
