Cavaliers Trade Dennis Schröder to Hornets for Tre Mann

Posted : 15 August 2026

The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to send veteran guard Dennis Schröder and cash considerations to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Tre Mann, according to reports confirmed by the NBA.

The move gives Charlotte an experienced point guard in Schröder, who has strong ties to Hornets president Jeff Peterson and head coach Charles Lee from his early years with the Atlanta Hawks.

Schröder brings considerable experience to a Charlotte team that has endured a lengthy playoff drought. The 13-year veteran played 70 games during the 2025-26 season, averaging 10.8 points, 4.9 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 24.2 minutes per game.

The German guard has also been remarkably durable, appearing in at least 60 games in each of the past 12 seasons. His arrival provides the Hornets with an experienced option behind Coby White as they continue to reshape their roster.

For Cleveland, the acquisition of Mann adds another young guard to the backcourt. The 25-year-old averaged 5.5 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 12.6 minutes across 53 games for Charlotte last season.

The trade also gives the Cavaliers additional financial flexibility as they explore further roster moves. Cleveland remains engaged with James Harden regarding a potential new contract and is also pursuing forwards Peyton Watson and Jonathan Kuminga.

Mann will now compete for a backcourt role in Cleveland, with the Cavaliers looking to make the most of his youth and potential while maintaining flexibility around their roster.

The deal represents a significant change for both players, with Schröder bringing veteran leadership to Charlotte and Mann receiving an opportunity to establish himself in a new environment in Cleveland.
