Cavaliers, Pistons, Magic Shine in NBA Action; Hawks, Bucks, Timberwolves Fall

Posted : 09 April 2026

The Cleveland Cavaliers overcame the Atlanta Hawks 122‑116 in a high-stakes Eastern Conference clash. Donovan Mitchell led the way with 31 points, while Evan Mobley dominated the boards with 19 rebounds, tying his career high. A decisive third-quarter surge, in which Cleveland outscored Atlanta 44‑20, shifted momentum.

Despite a late Hawks push that reduced the gap to two points, Mitchell’s clutch free throws secured the win. Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 25 points for Atlanta, but the loss delayed the Hawks’ playoff clinching hopes.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons handed the Milwaukee Bucks a 137‑111 defeat in a surprisingly one-sided contest. Detroit showcased a balanced attack, highlighted by Jalen Duren’s 21 points and nine rebounds.

Cade Cunningham returned from injury to contribute a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists, while Duncan Robinson added 20 points. The Pistons controlled the pace from start to finish, exploiting a shorthanded Bucks squad and asserting their dominance in the East.

In Orlando, the Magic continued their late-season momentum, defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves 132‑120. Paolo Banchero led Orlando with 20 points and eight rebounds, supported by Desmond Bane’s 18 points and Franz Wagner’s 17.

The Magic pulled away with a strong third quarter, improving their position in the Eastern Conference playoff race. Minnesota, already secured for the playoffs, struggled without some of their key starters and could not counter Orlando’s offensive surge.

These results highlight the intensity of the playoff push as teams jockey for seeding with the regular season nearing its conclusion.

Cleveland, Detroit, and Orlando gain confidence, while Atlanta, Milwaukee, and Minnesota face challenges in maintaining their positions in their respective conferences.
