Bradley Beal Set to Wear Chris Paul’s No. 3 for Clippers Next Season

Posted : 11 September 2026

Bradley Beal is expected to wear the No. 3 jersey for the LA Clippers during the 2026-27 NBA season, taking back the number that became synonymous with Chris Paul during his time with the franchise. League sources indicate Beal plans to use the number after wearing No. 0 last season.

Beal originally wore No. 3 throughout his first 13 NBA seasons with the Washington Wizards and Phoenix Suns. When Paul returned to the Clippers in 2025, Beal switched to No. 0 to allow the veteran guard to reclaim his familiar number.

The three-time All-Star also appeared to acknowledge the significance of the jersey in a social media post, praising Paul as a legend and emphasizing that the history and identity attached to the number cannot be erased.

Paul spent six seasons with the Clippers from 2011 to 2017 before returning for the 2025-26 campaign. He became one of the most influential players in franchise history, leading the organization through the celebrated "Lob City" era alongside Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.

Although Paul has since retired from the NBA, the decision for Beal to wear No. 3 does not prevent the Clippers from eventually retiring the jersey in Paul's honor. The veteran point guard remains the franchise's all-time leader in assists.

Paul recently expressed frustration over the manner of his departure from the Clippers, describing the experience as one of the most disrespectful moments of his career. Nevertheless, his legacy with the organization remains significant after helping establish the franchise as a consistent playoff contender.

Beal's return to No. 3 comes as he prepares for another season with Los Angeles. The 33-year-old was limited to only six appearances last season because of a hip injury but has re-signed with the Clippers on a two-year, $13.2 million contract.
