Anari Inspires D'Tigress to Winning Start at U-18 AfroBasket Championship

Nigeria's U-18 women's basketball team, D'Tigress, opened their campaign at the U-18 AfroBasket Championship on a winning note with a hard-earned 54-50 victory over Tunisia.

The closely fought encounter saw both teams battle relentlessly throughout, but the Nigerian girls displayed composure in the closing stages to claim a valuable opening-day win.

Favour Joy Anari led the charge for D'Tigress with an outstanding all-round performance, finishing with a game-high 14 points and nine rebounds to spearhead Nigeria's success.

Khadijah Alli also made an important contribution with nine points, while Bisola Orowolo added eight points as Nigeria relied on collective teamwork and defensive discipline to edge past their resilient opponents.

Despite Tunisia's spirited challenge, D'Tigress remained composed under pressure and produced key plays in the final minutes to preserve their lead and secure victory.

The result gives Nigeria an encouraging start to the championship and provides valuable momentum as the team continues its quest for continental honours.
