The much-anticipated 2026 Nigeria Men’s Premier Basketball League will officially tip off on Sunday with matches scheduled across four centers in Abuja, Benin, Ibadan, and Jos.
A total of 20 clubs will compete in this year’s championship, divided into the Atlantic and Savannah conferences as teams begin their quest for places in the final phase of the league.
Reigning champions Maktown Flyers headline the competition alongside notable contenders such as Kano Pillars, Rivers Hoppers, Kwara Falcons, and Nigeria Customs, while newly promoted sides including 313 Warriors, Aso SkyHawks, Athletes For Peace, Coal City Blazers, and Dam Confluence Giants will also make their debut appearances.
In the Savannah Conference, Group A games will take place at the Rayfield Basketball Stadium in Jos, featuring Kano Pillars, 313 Warriors, Gombe Bulls, Plateau Peaks, and Bauchi Nets.
Group B fixtures in Abuja will see Gboko City Chiefs, Nigeria Customs, Nile University, Niger Potters, and Aso SkyHawks compete for supremacy.
Meanwhile, the Atlantic Conference will have Group A matches staged at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan, where Comets, Raptors, Rivers Hoppers, Dam Confluence Giants, and Hoops & Read will square off.
Benin City hosts the Atlantic Conference Group B clashes at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, with defending champions Maktown Flyers drawn alongside Athletes For Peace, Coal City Blazers, Edo Beads, and Kwara Falcons.
