The 2026 Nigeria Basketball Premier League (NBPL) produced another round of thrilling encounters on Game Day 5, with Kano Pillars emerging as the biggest talking point after ending Plateau Peaks’ unbeaten run in a dramatic showdown in Jos.
Playing before a packed crowd at the National Indoor Sports Hall, Plateau Peaks were hoping to maintain their perfect start to the season, but Kano Pillars spoiled the party with a hard-fought 78-75 victory.
The home supporters, who filled the arena with high expectations, watched in disappointment as Plateau Peaks suffered their first loss of the campaign despite a spirited display.
Kano Pillars showed composure in crucial moments of the game to secure the narrow win and hand the Jos-based side a painful setback.
Also in Jos, Gombe Bulls delivered one of the most dominant performances of the round, overpowering Bauchi Nets 95-61. The heavy defeat leaves Bauchi Nets still searching for their first victory of the season as Raptors also recorded a slim 66-63 victory against Comets.
In Benin City, Kwara Falcons edged Coal City 69-66 in a closely fought battle, while Athletes For Peace comfortably defeated Edo Beads 60-39.
Attention now shifts to the next round of fixtures as struggling sides Bauchi Nets and Comets aim to finally open their accounts for the season.
