As the Federation of Basketball Africa (FIBA) released the draw for the finals of the 31st edition of the FIBA Afrobasket Men’s Championship Angola 2025, Nigeria's male basketball team, D'Tigers, has been placed in a tough Group B.
The 16 participating teams have been divided into 4 groups, each containing 4 teams, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout stages of the competition.
However, the 2015 champions, D'Tigers, have been placed in Group B alongside back-to-back defending champions Tunisia, Cameroon, and Madagascar.
In Group C, host and eleven-time African champions Angola are set to face heavyweights South Sudan, Guinea, and Libya.
Côte d'Ivoire, aiming for their third title, will join DR Congo, Cape Verde, and Rwanda in Group A, while Senegal, with five titles, will compete with their West African neighbors Mali in Group D. Egypt, the most successful North African side, and Uganda complete the teams in Group D.
The championship will be hosted by Angola for the fourth time, from August 12 to 24, and Tunisia are the two-time defending champions, having won the 2017 and 2021 tournaments.
