Tate Taylor Claims World U20 100m Gold as Marko Ferreira and Jessica Oji Win Medals

Tate Taylor produced a stunning performance on home soil to win the men's 100m title at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, clocking 9.94 seconds. The American moved into a tie for fifth on the all-time U20 list, finishing ahead of Jamaica's Gary Card, who took silver in 10.05.

South Africa's Marko Ferreira completed the podium after running 10.16 for bronze. His medal extended South Africa's remarkable record of producing a men's 100m medallist at four consecutive World U20 Championships, while Taylor and Card are now set to renew their rivalry in the 200m.

Nigeria also celebrated a historic success through Jessica Oji, who lived up to her status as the world U20 leader by winning women's shot put gold with a throw of 18.08m. The victory made Oji the first Nigerian woman to claim a medal in a throwing event at the World U20 Championships.
