Para-volleyball will rival other sports for Olympics medal for Nigeria --- NPVF President

The President of the Nigeria Para-volleyball Federation (NPVF), Kayode Ladele, boasted on Saturday that Team Nigeria is prepared to compete for medals at the 2024 Paralympics in France, challenging other sports. Ladele made this statement during a press briefing for the African qualifiers for Para Volleyball in Lagos.

Nigeria will host an 8-nation Para Volleyball Paris 2024 qualifiers at the Indoor Sports Hall of Molade Okoye Thomas, Teslim Balogun Stadium. The participating countries, competing for two slots each for male and female teams at the Paralympics in France, are Egypt, Morocco, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Algeria, Libya, and host Nigeria.

Ladele expressed Nigeria's readiness for the Paralympics, stating that the team had undergone adequate preparations and is poised to make the country proud. He emphasized the significance of Para Volleyball for Nigeria, highlighting its potential to rival other sports in winning Olympic medals.

Ladele urged corporate support for Para Volleyball, considering it a bright opportunity for Nigeria to excel in the Olympics. He stressed the need for sponsors to recognize the potential of the sport, emphasizing that Para Volleyball could become one of Nigeria's strong team events in the Paralympics 2024.

The African qualifiers for Para Volleyball will commence on Monday, Jan. 29, at the Molade Okoya Thomas Indoor Sports Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium. In Group A, Nigeria's men's team is paired with Egypt, Morocco, and Kenya, while the women's team will compete against Kenya, Rwanda, and Zimbabwe. The Nigerian men's team will start their campaign against Kenya, and the women's team will face Zimbabwe.
