In its continued efforts to promote growth and improve the standard of weightlifting in Nigeria, the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF) will next week organize a seven-day coaching training programme for 22 athletes and 8 coaches in Abuja.
The training is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 23, and will conclude on Saturday, June 29, 2025. Participants are expected to arrive on Sunday, June 22, with departure set for Monday, June 30.
According to the Media Officer of the NWF, Amaechi Agbo, the federation has invited 22 athletes — 10 male and 12 female — as well as 8 coaches to take part in the programme. The training will be held at the Weightlifting Gym, Gymnasium Hall, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
A renowned weightlifting coaching expert from Australia will lead the sessions, delivering specialized instruction to help boost the technical and competitive skills of both athletes and coaches.
The programme is strategically designed to strengthen preparations for upcoming international competitions, including the Commonwealth Games and the next Olympic Games.
