Nigeria to host 13th ECOWAS African Wrestling Tournament to Celebrate ECOWAS 50th Anniversary

Nigeria is set to host the 13th ECOWAS African Wrestling Tournament in Abuja from March 6-8, 2025, as part of celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the West African regional body.  


In collaboration with the National Sports Commission (NSC), the event will be staged at the Velodrome, Package A of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, bringing together top wrestling talents from across the West African subregion.  


NSC Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, and Director-General, Hon. Bukola Olopade, welcomed the opportunity for Nigeria to host the tournament, assuring that the country will deliver a hospitable and world-class event.  


The championship is expected to strengthen regional sports ties while showcasing Nigeria’s growing stature as a hub for international sporting events.
