Nigeria faces unexpected losses in 2024 African Paralympics qualifiers in Lagos

Posted : 30 January 2024

Kenya's female Para volley team began their quest for a spot in the 2024 Paralympics with a dominant 3-0 sets victory over Nigeria at the 2024 African Sitting Volleyball Championship in Lagos.

The first international meeting between the two countries ended in disappointment for the host as the Kenyan team displayed a convincing performance.

The Kenyan female team demonstrated exceptional prowess, leaving no chance for the Nigerian team, who played in front of a supportive crowd at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

The opening match of the Paralympics qualifiers showcased Kenya's strong start to the journey towards the 2024 Paralympics in Paris.

Similarly, the Nigerian men's team faced defeat against Kenya, with Kenya securing early set wins (25-22, 25-13).

Despite Nigeria rallying to tie the game after being two sets down, Kenya held their ground in the decisive set, winning 15-12 points.

The Nigerian women's team is scheduled to face Rwanda on Tuesday at 4 pm, while the men's team aims for their first win against Morocco on Tuesday at 10:15 am.
