Nigeria Dominates African Women's 100m Rankings as Chukwuma Leads the Charge

Nigeria has reinforced its dominance in women's sprinting on the African continent, with six athletes featuring in the latest African women's 100m top 10 rankings, led by Rosemary Chukwuma.

Chukwuma moved to the top of the continental rankings after clocking a season-best 10.95 seconds, making her the fastest African woman over the 100m this year.

The performance continues the Nigerian sprinter's outstanding form and strengthens her credentials as one of Africa's leading medal contenders ahead of major international competitions.

The latest rankings also highlight the remarkable depth of Nigeria's sprint programme, with six Nigerian athletes occupying places among Africa's 10 fastest women over the distance this season.

Liberia is the only other nation with more than one athlete in the top 10, with two sprinters making the rankings, underlining the growing strength of West African sprinting.

Nigeria's commanding presence in the rankings further reinforces the country's status as a powerhouse in African athletics, with its female sprinters continuing to set the pace on the continent while raising expectations for success on the global stage.
