Keely Hodgkinson Wins Athlos London 800m in Striking Nike Speed Suit

Posted : 19 September 2026

Keely Hodgkinson ended her 2026 season in style by winning the 800 metres at Athlos London, clocking 1:56.40 in front of a sellout crowd at StoneX Stadium.

The British Olympic champion made an eye-catching entrance in a custom-made, full-length black Nike speed suit designed specifically for her. The outfit, which featured a hood and aerodynamic elements, was the result of months of development and testing with Nike's innovation team.

Hodgkinson received a loud reception from the home crowd before producing a commanding performance on the track. She moved away from her rivals during the latter stages of the race and finished more than two seconds clear of Switzerland's Valentina Rosamilia, who took second in 1:58.75. France's Rénelle Lamote was third in 2:00.15.

The 24-year-old said the suit had been in development for about a year and described it as a combination of fashion, speed and science. She added that an all-women's event focused on showcasing female athletes provided the right setting for its debut.

Instead of traditional medals, Athlos winners were presented with Tiffany & Co. crowns, while each event winner received $65,000. The London meeting marked the first time the all-female athletics event had been held outside the United States.

Athlos was created by Alexis Ohanian, the Reddit co-founder and husband of tennis great Serena Williams. The London edition featured seven events, with six athletes competing in each discipline and prize money distributed down the field.

Several other leading athletes also claimed victories during the evening. Sha'Carri Richardson won the 100m in 10.80 seconds, Gabby Thomas took the 200m in 22.13, while Marileidy Paulino triumphed in the 400m in 48.73.

Hodgkinson's victory provided a positive conclusion to a disrupted season. She had started 2026 by breaking the world indoor 800m record and winning the world indoor title before injuries affected her outdoor campaign.
