Femke Bol announced on social media that she will not be competing individually during the 2025 indoor season, making her 400 meters world indoor title in Nanjing up for grabs. The Dutch athlete, who won Olympic bronze in the 400-meter hurdles at both the Paris 2024 and Tokyo 2020 Games, explained that she needed time to process the events of her career and to focus on life outside of athletics. She shared that after a demanding Olympic cycle filled with significant competitions, she felt it was time to take a different approach this year.
In her Instagram post, Bol emphasized that while she is still training hard and preparing for another strong season on the track, she also recognized the need for a break from the intensity of individual competition.
The decision reflects her desire to balance her athletic commitments with personal time and reflection. Bol, known for her resilience and commitment to her sport, expressed her readiness for the challenges ahead but acknowledged the importance of stepping back temporarily.
Although Bol will not compete individually this indoor season, she confirmed that she will take part in the relays at the European Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn, which will be held in March. Excited to participate in a home championship, she expressed her gratitude for the continued support from her fans and looked forward to what the year would bring.
