Carloha Nigeria Named Official Automobile Sponsor for Historic 11th Okpekpe 10km Road Race

Authorized Chery vehicle distributor Carloha Nigeria has officially joined the 11th edition of the Okpekpe International 10km Road Race as its official automobile sponsor. The partnership aims to promote sports development and foster a healthy endurance culture across Nigeria. The highly anticipated Gold Label event will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, in the mountainous terrain of Okpekpe, Edo State.

As a core part of the sponsorship agreement, Carloha will deploy two heavy-duty Chery HIMLA pickup trucks during the competition. These vehicles will serve as the official lead cars positioned directly ahead of the elite and VIP runners. They will carry the critical race timing systems throughout the demanding ten-kilometer course. This high-profile placement ensures the automotive brand remains at the center of the world-class athletics showpiece.

The Okpekpe Road Race stands as one of Africa's most prestigious road racing events. It retains a coveted World Athletics Gold Label status and holds full membership in the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races. The competitive field will feature elite international athletes from countries like Kenya and Ethiopia alongside top local long-distance runners.

Speaking on the partnership, General Manager of Marketing at Carloha Nigeria, Felix Mahan, stated that the sponsorship reflects the firm's broader corporate social responsibility goals. He noted that long-distance running shares a natural connection with the engineering core values of the pickup model, which focuses on strength, resilience, and durability. Mahan added that supporting globally recognized events enhances Nigeria's international image while inspiring local youth empowerment.

Beyond the race track, the automotive company will leverage the massive sports platform to promote its customer-centric CarlohaCare aftersales package. The service scheme offers a six-year warranty, six years of free servicing, and a seven-day repair promise to all Chery owners.
