The appointment was confirmed in a letter endorsed by Andrew Aye, Director of Sports at the Bayelsa State Sports Council. The letter highlighted Oredipe’s significant contributions to athletics development in the state over the past five years and noted that his leadership would continue to benefit the sport locally.
Aye encouraged the new chairman to engage closely with key stakeholders in Bayelsa athletics to sustain and enhance progress within the sport.
Oredipe is also a seasoned broadcaster and serves as the Director-General of the Bayelsa State Government New Media.
Additionally, he is the founder of SamKay Athletics Club in Yenagoa, a platform that has identified and developed young talent who have represented Bayelsa at national and international levels. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to further strengthen athletics in the state.
