Organisers have released the detailed $250,000 prize money structure for the elite 42km race.
The prize purse applies to both men and women in the elite category, reflecting the marathon’s commitment to rewarding excellence, attracting world-class athletes, and maintaining its World Athletics Gold Label status.
According to the official breakdown, the winner of the elite 42km race will earn $50,000, while the runner-up takes home $20,000. The third-place finisher will receive $15,000, with fourth and fifth positions earning $12,000 and $10,000 respectively.
Prizes continue further down the rankings: the sixth-place athlete will collect $8,000, seventh place will receive $6,000, and eighth place will be awarded $4,000, ensuring strong incentives for top performers across the field.
The substantial prize fund remains a key attraction for elite marathoners from Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Nigeria, and beyond, as Lagos gears up to host another fiercely contested edition of Africa’s largest road race.
Scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2026, the marathon will feature a new route, starting from ORCA Mall on Victoria Island, passing through sections of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road, and concluding at the iconic Eko Atlantic City.
