Abuja City Half Marathon: Organisers Intensify Preparations as Countdown Hits Nine Days

Posted : 07 November 2026

With nine days remaining before the PremiumTrust Bank Abuja City International Half Marathon, organisers have intensified preparations to deliver a successful race, as excitement builds across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The November 14 event is expected to attract elite international athletes, local distance runners, fitness enthusiasts and recreational participants, transforming Abuja into a centre of athletics and sporting activities.

Organisers say arrangements are being finalised across critical areas, including race-route management, medical services, security, hydration points and volunteer mobilisation to guarantee participants a safe and seamless experience.

Beyond the competitive attraction, the half marathon is expected to provide an opportunity to promote healthy living, grassroots participation in athletics and Abuja's growing profile as a destination for major sporting events.

The race will also offer elite athletes an opportunity to compete for top honours, while amateur runners will have the chance to test their endurance, improve personal records and experience the excitement of participating in a major road race.

The organisers have also encouraged intending participants to complete their registration and make adequate preparations ahead of the event.

Race-kit collection is scheduled for November 9 to 13, giving registered runners five days to collect their kits before the competition.

The event is expected to generate economic activities across the FCT, particularly in the hospitality, transportation and retail sectors, as visitors and participants arrive for the competition.

With the countdown gathering momentum, attention is gradually shifting to race-day logistics and the readiness of participants for the 21-kilometre challenge.

As November 14 approaches, Abuja is preparing not just for another road race, but for a major sporting spectacle expected to showcase the city's hospitality, sporting potential and capacity to host international athletics competitions.

With preparations entering their final stages, organisers will be looking to ensure that all arrangements are in place for a memorable competition. The event is expected to bring together athletes and spectators while further strengthening Abuja's reputation as a host destination for major international sporting events.
