2025 Wanda Diamond League Set to Showcase Track and Field Stars

Posted : 06 May 2025

The 2025 Wanda Diamond League is set to deliver thrilling track and field action as athletes gear up for the series final in Zurich on August 27-28. With the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo approaching, the league will be a vital platform for many competitors to sharpen their form in preparation for the global event.

The Diamond League has long been a stage where emerging talents make their mark, and this year promises to be no exception, with several exciting names already confirmed to compete.

The upcoming events will feature some of the sport's brightest stars, including Jamaican sprinter Shericka Jackson in the women’s 200m and a highly anticipated men’s 200m field led by Olympic gold medalist Letsile Tebogo. South Africa’s Akani Simbine and world indoor champion Jeremiah Azu will also be contenders in the men’s sprint events.

Tebogo’s impressive performance at the Golden Prix in Gaborone and Simbine’s victory over African record holder Ferdinand Omanyala have set the stage for fierce competition. Azu, the European 60m champion, is also expected to make his presence felt in the 2025 season.

In the women’s races, South Africa’s Prudence Sekgodiso is one to watch after her breakthrough win in the 800m at the Diamond League in Marrakech last season. The 23-year-old’s world-leading performance in Nanjing has already established her as a title contender.

Additionally, Kenyan Faith Kipyegon, a three-time Olympic champion, will aim to break the world record in the 1000m, with her sights set on surpassing the 2:28.98 mark. Her previous performances, including a world record over 1500m, make her a formidable challenger in the event.
