The assistant captain of the Osun State female football team, Suliyat Busari, has reiterated the team's desire to be the best in the female football event, a feat they also achieved at the Southwest Zonal Elimination Games in Oyo State.
Suliyat, while speaking with journalists shortly after a light morning training session with her team, said she is optimistic about their chances.
She said the coaches have been doing everything possible to get the team in shape.
"We are not at the National Sports Festival just to make up the numbers. We are here for the ultimate prize, the gold medal.
"We are the best female football team from the Southwest, and we won't just be local champions. We want to be the best in the country."
"We know there will be stiff competition from teams from other states, and we are not writing them off, but we strongly feel that with our determination and hard work, we will get the crown."
"We have put so much into the preparations for this fiesta, and we are hoping and praying that we come out on top."
"Our coaches have done well to prepare us with rigorous training and morale-boosting talks.
"We are fully prepared for the task ahead of us," said Suliyat.
