As the 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF), tagged the Gateway Games, hits its crescendo, Team Bayelsa has maintained its grip at the top of the medals table, posting a record 55 medals.
At the end of Day 5 activities, Team Bayelsa has garnered 30 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze medals to maintain a comfortable lead.
According to the official medals table of the NSF tagged ‘Gateway Games 2024,’ Delta closely follows in second position with 21 gold, 9 silver, and 26 bronze medals.
The table also has Rivers in third place with 11 gold, 10 silver, and 10 bronze medals.
Team Oyo occupies fourth position with 10 gold, 8 silver, and 13 bronze medals, while Lagos completes the top five with 9 gold, 9 silver, and 18 bronze.
A total of 420 medals have so far been won by states participating in the sports fiesta.
The NSF is a biennial multi-sport event organized by the Federal Government.
It brings together athletes from all 36 states and the FCT to compete in various sports, promoting national unity, sportsmanship, and excellence across Nigeria.
