2025 Comrades Marathon Entries Close Early

The 2025 Comrades Marathon has officially reached its entry limit, with no more registrations being accepted, the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) announced on Monday. The limit of 23,000 entries was met on Saturday afternoon, 30 November, closing the entry process nine days earlier than the originally scheduled deadline of 9 December.

 

CMA Acting Race & Operations Manager, Alain Dalais, expressed excitement over the record-breaking response, noting that more than 80 nations would be represented in next year’s race. He emphasized the enthusiasm from runners worldwide and the CMA's anticipation for the 49th Down Run, scheduled for Sunday, 8 June 2025.

 

Dalais also confirmed that registered runners would have the chance to experience a challenging and unforgettable race on the historic route. "We look forward to welcoming all registered runners to the starting line on 8 June," Dalais said, referring to the upcoming marathon as a highly anticipated event.

 

For those who missed out on an entry, the CMA encourages runners to stay connected through its official channels for information on the Comrades Substitution Process, which will run from March to April 2025. The 49th Comrades Marathon will cover approximately 89km, starting at Pietermaritzburg City Hall at 5:30 a.m. and finishing at Durban's People's Park, with a 12-hour time limit.
