13th African Games: AFN invites 33 athletes to camp

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has invited 33 athletes—17 men and 16 women—to camp ahead of the 13th African Games scheduled to be held in three Ghanaian cities: Accra, Cape Coast, and Kumasi, next month.

 

The list was made public by the AFN's secretary.

 

Olayinka Olajide, the winner of the women's 100m, headlines the team that will be camping in Abuja from Thursday, the 22nd of February, until the contingent's departure to Ghana next month.

 

Other notable female athletes on the list include sprinters Blessing Ogundiran and Tiana Justina Eyakpobeyan, quarter-miler Esther Elo Joseph, and Patience Okon and Esther Okon.

 

Male sprinters heading to the Abuja camp include Fakorede Adekalu, Enoch Adegoke, Israel Okon, and Consider Ekanem.

 

Samuel Onikeku, Teye Endurance, Solomon Aliyu, Kayode Yahaya, Deji Aliu, Mohammed Dabo, and Gabriel Okon are some of the experienced coaches who will be working with the athletes while in camp.
