Japan humiliates Future Eagles 6-1

Nigeria’s U-15 male football team, the Future Eagles on Friday lost their second game at the ongoing 2023 International Dream Cup Championship in Japan after losing scandalously 6-1 to the host, Japan.

Alatan Azuka got Nigeria’s only goal in the encounter.

The host recovered from their 2-1 opening day defeat to USA to rekindled their hope of winning their sixth title.

Meanwhile, Netherlands continued their sporadic form as they defeated USA 3-0 to consolidate their leadership of the chart.

Nigeria had on Thursday lost their opening match 1-0 against Netherlands.

They will take on USA in their last match of the tournament on Sunday.

“The Future Eagles buckle under extremely wet conditions in their second group game of the DreamCup in Fukushima.

“Alatan Azuka got Nigeria’s only goal.

“They face the United States in their next game,” Nigeria Football Federation, NFF said on Friday after the match.

The 2023 U-16 International Dream Cup 2023 is the 7th edition of the tournament, an annual international age-restricted football competition organized by the Japan Football Association (JFA).

It is held at the J-Village Stadium from 31 May to 4 June 2023. 

Japan were crowned champions for the 5th time.
