Gervont Davis pleads guilty to hit-and-run crash injuring four people

Posted : 02 June 2023
Following a court appearance on Thursday, boxing champion Gervonta Davis was taken into custody and sent to the Baltimore City Central Booking Intake Facility, according to a spokesman for the Baltimore City Sheriff's Office.

Davis was sentenced to 90 days of house arrest this month after entering a guilty plea to four counts related to a hit-and-run accident that wounded four people, including a pregnant lady, in November 2020. Davis has been incarcerated at the residence of his trainer, Calvin Ford.

Davis was taken into prison during a "impromptu" hearing late on Thursday afternoon, according to Michael Tomko, the attorney for Davis, who spoke with many Baltimore media sources. The spokeswoman for the sheriff's office declined to provide reporters any other information.

Additionally, Davis, 28, was given a three-year probationary period and 200 hours of community service last month. The decision was made less than two weeks after Davis defeated Ryan Garcia by seventh-round TKO in the greatest match of his career.

Davis, a native of Baltimore, was also charged with a misdemeanour domestic violence offence of assault resulting in bodily damage, but Broward County, Florida prosecutors withdrew the case last week when the complainant indicated she did not want to pursue prosecution.
