Charlotte Kool emerged victorious in the opening time trial of the Simac Ladies Tour, leaving behind competitors Riejanne Markus and Lotte Kopecky in the 2.4-kilometer prologue held in Ede.
As a rider for DSM-Firmenich, Kool strategically navigated the challenging corners of the course, a key element she had focused on during her recent weeks of intensive training on the time trial bike.
Reflecting on her win amidst a formidable field of contenders, she expressed her delight, saying, "It's truly satisfying to secure a victory in such a competitive field and immediately assume the lead in the Simac Ladies Tour."
Despite her triumph, Kool maintained a humble stance regarding the overall classification, deferring to her teammate Pfeiffer Georgi. She believed that the Limburg stage might prove too demanding for her abilities. Nevertheless, she eagerly anticipated upcoming sprint stages, starting the next day, and approached them with great ambition.
Ede also witnessed a significant presence of supporters rallying behind Annemiek van Vleuten. The reigning Olympic time trial champion bid farewell to this Women's WorldTour race on her home turf, ultimately finishing in twelfth place.
