Charley Hull and Shane Lowry find success despite missing wins
Posted : 11 September 2023
Charley Hull and Shane Lowry, professional golfers, had successful weekends despite not clinching wins. Hull finished as the runner-up at the Kroger Queen City Championship in Cincinnati, her final event before the Solheim Cup, while Lowry secured his best result of the year with a third-place finish at the Horizon Irish Open.
Lowry's return to form came at a crucial time, with his Ryder Cup wildcard selection being scrutinized due to his mixed performance in 2023. He now heads into the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth and the Ryder Cup in Rome with newfound momentum.
Europe's Ryder Cup captain, Luke Donald, will have been pleased with Lowry's performance, especially considering his previous year's form, as the team gathers to scout the Ryder Cup venue in Rome.
Hull, on the other hand, has been enjoying a strong season with multiple runner-up finishes but no wins. She came extremely close to victory at the Kroger Queen City Championship, narrowly missing a playoff victory against Minjee Lee. Despite the loss, Hull is looking forward to the Solheim Cup and is excited to work with captain Suzann Pettersen.
Both golfers have promising events ahead, with Lowry defending his BMW PGA Championship title and participating in the Ryder Cup, while Hull is gearing up for the Solheim Cup and is determined to close out the season strongly.
