Stefan Kung's crash ends season at European Championships

Stefan Kung won't compete this season after a severe crash during the elite men's time trial at the European Road Championships left him with significant facial injuries and a shattered helmet.
Kung crashed into barriers during the 29.8km timed race but managed to finish in 11th place.
Despite this brave effort, there were concerns about his visibly cracked helmet and facial wounds.
Afterward, Groupama-FDJ, Kung's team, stated that he had a minor concussion, fractured facial bone, and a broken hand but was in generally good condition, though his season was officially over.
Many in the cycling community, including former pro rider Phil Gaimon and ex-UCI president Brian Cookson, expressed concerns about riders competing with heads down and the importance of valuing brain health.
